#379 - running

I really wanted to swim today, but for some reason the school pool was closed.

So I walked home and changed into my running gear. Hit 1 lap of my campus loop (1.15 miles) at by far my fastest time yet: 9:55

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I haven’t run in a little while, part of it definitely has to do with the swimming conditioning (you really get your breathing under control when you are underwater), and part of it has to do with a really good warmup (walking to the gym and then back to my apartment and then around a little bit)

could I have done a longer run? not on my lunch break, and not really at that pace (8:36 pace - by far the fastest i have ever run non-race) so while this was a short run, i threw in some sloshpipe work - two static holds (zercher hold and overhead press) - unfortunately being dropped from 8 or 9 feet onto a piece of concrete tile does not bode well for the end caps on a sloshpipe. i’ll have to take the dremel to it and cut off the piece, i bought a new end-cap, the kind that i can rescrew a piece on and off, so i can add/subtract water for more varied sloshpipery

  • warmup: 15 minutes, walking
  • running, 9:55 (1.15 miles)
  • cooldown: 5 minutes, walking
  • cooldown: sloshpipe static holds
